ENHANCING VOCABULARY RETENTION THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF THE WORDWALL PLATFORM FOR YOUNG LEARNERS
Tóm tắt
In teaching English, vocabulary is the most important part, but students often face difficulties because they forget what they have learned. This study was conducted at Lê Lợi Secondary & High School in Phan Thiết city, aiming to examine whether using Wordwall helps 6th-grade students remember vocabulary better. Instead of doing experimental tests, this study chose to conduct surveys and collect tangible evidence from the students’ learning process with the Global Success 6 textbook. Regarding methodology, the study adopted a quantitative approach, using a questionnaire administered to a sample of 79 students. To clarify the results, the study relied on psychological theories of memory to explain why interactive activities help students remember lessons better than traditional learning methods. Data from the questionnaires was meticulously cross-checked to ensure that the conclusions drawn are accurate and objective. The results show that, thanks to images, sounds, and the features of Wordwall, students feel less pressured and more interested in the lesson. They can recall vocabulary faster and no longer fear long or difficult words as before. The research confirms that Wordwall is an effective support tool, helping teachers innovate their teaching methods and create a fun learning environment, making students more confident when learning English. Therefore, the study suggests that Wordwall serves as a useful supporting tool in vocabulary teaching and should be combined with alternative teaching methods to optimize learning outcomes.
